Looking forward to a spin on the bike this weekend! I can almost feel the breeze.

Respite

Sitting quietly on the open deck of Vivo City, I had a sudden epiphany as to why I enjoy these quiet moments. They remind me of a time when entertainment was literally free and easy: Sunday afternoons at the beach, with a one-pot meal packed to feed a clan; weekdays after school cycling at the void deck.

Today I have the afternoon off (again!) and am having a bite before I head home for tea with my family.

I'm breathing in the cool breeze, totally enjoying the greyish cloud-lined horizon. Little birds hop about the wooden deck foraging for scraps. A steady stream of tourists and families strolls by. Children plead to wade in the ankle-deep water. Schoolgirls take jump shots. A splashing good time is had by all. I can see the iconic cable cars and Sentosa monorail from where I am seated. Planes fly by high above mechanical cranes gliding in smooth movement.

This is my respite from the unforgiving air-con and the noise of work life. Magical.

Day Off

Oh! The joy of taking the afternoon off after a morning of hard work.

It's a crisply warm day with the sun shining but also a cool wind blowing.

I'm going to have lunch with my dad, do some housework to keep the house as dust-free as possible, and get down to packing up a whole bunch of scrapbook goodies from Chelle.

And some guitar-strumming and bike-riding will be in order too!

Beautiful nights in Feb with my extended family. Lounging on the verandah, under warm yellow lights, with a cool wind blowing and chatting over random things from A to Z. Love these precious moments.

Fancy Workaday Lunch

I had three of these for lunch yesterday (with some salad on the side) and they were yummy. I was mightily pleased with myself!

Growing up, the Fresh Prince was a favourite show of mine. 

Now, this is the story all about how/ My life got flipped-turned upside down / And I'd like to take a minute. Just sit right there. / I'll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel-Air.

I'm pretty sure I cracked up when I watched this the first time round all those years ago ... and I just cracked up all over again. Will Smith is hilarious.

On macaroons

'Went to Paris and didn't try a macaroon', that might fit well on a t-shirt for me. For some reason, I thought it more fun to just take photos of the pretty displays. Went to Paris and didn't ride on a carousel either, but that's a different t-shirt.
