Planet Gazing in Feb 2012

From the top: Jupiter, Venus & the Moon.

Beautiful nights in Feb with my extended family. Lounging on the verandah, under warm yellow lights, with a cool wind blowing and chatting over random things from A to Z. Love these precious moments.

Fancy Workaday Lunch

I had three of these for lunch yesterday (with some salad on the side) and they were yummy. I was mightily pleased with myself!

herewith, a fancy self-assembled lunch:

Smoked duck

and luscious tomato

on a bed of lightly seasoned wild rocket

atop a brown rice cracker

M&S Jam Sandwich Creams

Mr Marks!

Yes, Mr Spencer?

These biscuits are scrumptious!

I agree, Mr Spencer.

(I like the jam in the middle!)

youtube surfing on a Saturday morning

Growing up, the Fresh Prince was a favourite show of mine

Now, this is the story all about how/ My life got flipped-turned upside down / And I'd like to take a minute. Just sit right there. / I'll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel-Air.

I'm pretty sure I cracked up when I watched this the first time round all those years ago ... and I just cracked up all over again. Will Smith is hilarious.

Colour bursts

Perused the jcrew website yesterday and couldn't get the fun happy vibe out of my head today.

In the mood for layering, and bright yellow, and fun combinations.

On macaroons

'Went to Paris and didn't try a macaroon', that might fit well on a t-shirt for me. For some reason, I thought it more fun to just take photos of the pretty displays. Went to Paris and didn't ride on a carousel either, but that's a different t-shirt.

In my photo files: This was probably a year or two ago when Chelle organised a lovely Christmas dinner and generously shared yummy macaroons.

I dunno, I think I enjoy taking photos of macaroons more than eating them!

Links upon links of pretty & inspiring things

Hello hello.

Some links I've just come across and some which I just found in my drafts.

A visual feast by Dietlind Wolf, via BonnieSally J Shim has pretty things too - inspired to string up some beads that I've had forever. Via Sally: Rena Tom's blog on retail strategy for creative businesses. Looks appealing AND useful. And I have to love my national library which already has this book (reviewed on Rena Tom) on the way to the shelves soon. Way to go, NLB.

Ooh nice. Sunday suppers. And I think I'm hungry already...see Not Without Salt and just tell me if you wouldn't get hungry too.

Love scout's honor's work. Love how the studio looks too. Possibly inspired to re-do my desk & cupboard area.

Beautiful, creative business cards from Creature Comforts. Love the turquoise set. Inspiring!

What a lovely post about Brussels.

Love love love Saturdays... and now after traversing the world via blogland, I feel like traveling to Amsterdam/Cuba/Scandinavia or making something. Heh. All things are possible on Saturdays.

A Saturday in February

Saturday! Woohoo. My favorite day of the week.

Breakfast...and an early morning cycle. Joggers, Walkers, Cyclists, possibly Minister-spotting (well even Ministers need time out), birds chirping, kites a-fluttering amidst tree branches, the sun playing hide-and-seek, and oh the wind was lovely this morning.

This being CNY season (the remaining days of it), we have one last round of yu-sheng with the family, and a jolly excuse to get together and chill out.

Although I don't do any of the cooking, I'm pressed into service when needed. This morning's schedule includes wringing water from the shredded vegetables for the yu-sheng. My marvel of a mother makes her own yu-sheng. Or at least, she prepares the vegetable, pomelo, raw fish, preserved octopus etc and we buy the sauces & crispy bits.

Artistically arranged by mum. Green radish, white radish & carrot.

The shredded vegetables are wrung and kept in the fridge to dry out until dinner time.

A look back at the year of the Rabbit (Did you see the Wabbit?)
